| Late Saturday night, and the bikes were finally loaded |
Sunday was our first day on our winter C2C tour. The C2C is a classic coast to coast cycle route across Northern England with a couple of different start and finish points some and a variety of on and off road options. The route we've chosen starts in Workington on the West Coast and will take us to Sunderland on the East Coast, crossing the Lake District National Park and the Pennines. Here's a little photo essay from our first foggy day on the trail. Not that we got to see much!
| On the way to the start, the kids checked out adventure options at the Rheged Family Hub |
| The hub confirmed many unusual Cumbrian adventure options, Didn't mention the C2C though! |
| Down at Workington, fog enveloped us and the start. |
| Getting set up we lost one allen key in the river... and almost one bike and one boy (look carefully). |
| It wasn't long before the boys were raring to go |
| At the start they studied the well worn C2C compass. For a nanosecond. |
| Then posed for the glamorous C2C start photo at 'The Lighthouse' |
| Of course the real start was down on the beach |
| Where custom dicates one should dip ones toes in the Irish Sea. |
| Although purists prefer to dip a bike wheel. |

We did this C2C ride across England, from Workington to Sunderland, as part of our Family Adventure Capital Season. We're exploring different ways families can adventure together in and around Cumbria, sharing ideas and inspiration to encourage families to get out, get active and adventure together. Got some ideas for things we should try? Let us know.

Stuart, do you see what we see? Because all I see over here is black stop-signs. Barely half the fun this way. Perhaps you posted pictures you can only see when you're logged in?
ReplyDeleteAh yes, you don't really get the full picture do you! I moved some photos around last night and forgot to update the links :-( Will look at it tonight. Sorry!
