Spies, Survival & Bike Tour Ideas

Spies, Survival & Bike Tour Ideas

Tired of boring Tuesday mornings? Dream of escaping the office? We can’t help you break free from your corporate shackles, but we can give you something to dream about. Tuesdays in the future will see a new strand of blog posts, where I’ll be highlighting some of the experiences and adventures that have caught my eye over the last week. They may be things for all the family to do together, activities for father and son, mother and daughter, an adventure for Dad or Mum alone or one for the kids to escape the parents. Parents can SO hold you back sometimes don’t you think?

Fancy the Bear Grylls Survival Academy?

The kids have gone back to school. Now you can. You can take to the woods with the new Bear Grylls Survival Academy where Bear’s disciples will pass on the knowledge of the outdoors in the Scottish Highlands. At almost £3000 a pop it’s a little on the pricey side and there are only ten places for each course, but then, you’re paying for celebrity knowledge, hard core survival skills, and the chance to hunt and gather all the grubs you like all in one juicy fend-for-yourself package. And if Bear isn’t busy on TV, he might try and put in an appearance. A father and grown up son bonding trip perhaps?

Become a British Secret Agent

If Bear Grylls is too unwashed for you, then you could be part of Visit Britain’s Bond competition. Sorry I mean the Global Agent-UK Sky Fall Spy Campaign. To mark the 50th anniversary of the  Bond movie franchise, visitors from overseas will be invited to take part in the competition, which covers a variety of social media. It was launched last week so you have just three and a bit weeks left to learn to be a spy. I don’t know about you but I could learn to love Martini and speed boats.

Bike about some dirt tracks with Explore

The increased demand for cycling after the 2012 Olympics has prompted Explore to expand their cycling collection with ten new tours for 2013/14. New destinations include The Baltics, Bosnia Herzegovina and Bhutan. Or if you are more inspired by muddy puddles than Ms Pendleton and her cycling buddies you can go on one of their new dirt track routes. Or if you’re like us and broke, you can just get some great route ideas for a DIY tour.

Learn to gut fish in Hastings

The great and the good in Hastings, UK, have decided that people have lost the habit of buying and preparing fish. I’m not arguing with that; just sourcing a tin of tuna for the kids lunches can be a stressful experience in our house. The first Hastings Herring Fair runs from 23-25th November, if you fancy finding out how to gut a trout or two.

From forest to fish in five easy moves

In the space of one post, we’ve gone from Bear Grylls to bare gills. See how I did that? This slot will SO offer more than the average blogger news. Come back next week for more. Or sign up to our email list to receive posts direct to your inbox.
