Young Groaters. Feeling pleased with themselves. As well they should.
It was a long time in the coming, but we made it. From the most south westerly point to the most north westerly point of the British mainland, from Lands End to John O Groats or LEJOG. Now most people who do this become known as Old Groaters, but with kids this young it doesn’t seem appropriate.
It’s official. Although we’ve had to change the terminology. Three young Groater’s are born. Age nearly 2, 5 and 6.
It has been a long and challenging delivery. Of 49 days and some 2,000 kilometres. Not exactly the shortest route or the quickest time, but then what did you expect?
Mother, father and children are all doing well.
And after being rewarded for all that hard work and patience, with a lolly, they all made their mark in the official book of Groaters in the Last Inn. If you ever find yourself at John O Groats, ask to see the book for 2007 and you might even see their scribbles, although you may struggle to read them. Much as we struggled to get there.
Now all that remains is for us to get back in time for the kids to start school.
