Meet Jean, our Pedal Powered Pensioner in Camborne

Pedal Powered Pensioner

Jean, from Camborne, has been cycling for a lifetime, well 57 years to be precise. Now that’s not bad going.

She started as a teenager, at sweet 17 and now, at seventy four, she still uses her bicycle to get around town, equipped with two pannier shopping bags and just three gears. Hear that? Just three gears with hills like these!

Jean doesn’t mind the hills around here, but some of us do!

Jean has had her current bike for twenty two years and says it’s a bit tough on the hills. While she doesn’t mind doing hills, she doesn’t do punctures and was just dropping it off for repair at the local bike shop.

“That’s my neighbour,” she said, pointing to a less fit man down the street, “he could definitely get out more on his bike.”

That’s the spirit Jean. I hope I’m still riding at seventy four.

Jean’s not taken any wrong turnings if she’s still biking at 74
