No Matter What the Weather
On and on and on we go. Each day the same and yet different. Always cycling, that’s always the same. But the landscape changes. And the weather changes. And maybe we change too in some small ways. And always there appears to be something not quite right, for someone. Is that just who we are?
Today the trouble is not the heat, although it is still hot. So hot in places that the trees appear to have given up and died. It’s makes for a disturbing looking scene and reminds me how alive we are despite the daily challenges of this road, probably more alive than when we are comfortably at home.

Dead Trees on the Camino de Santiago
The enemy of the cyclist
Nor is it the hills, but of course it is hilly. And each one presents a particular challenge in the heat. But they are not today’s enemy. No, today we face the wind, on the nose, pushing us back to Leon as we push towards the mountains between us and Santiago. The wind is the enemy of the cyclist. The devil in disguise?

Follow the scallop signs and you follow the Camino de Santiago
There is a universal constant
But one constant remains; the kids unending thirst for ice cream, whatever the weather, conditions or time of day.

Whatever the weather ice cream is always on the menu
