The million star hotel
Last night we slept like ancient pilgrims, under the best hotel, with a million stars. We lay on the dust with the gentle breeze touching our cheeks, sleeping out like children, which of course some of us are.

Sleeping out on Camino de Santiago, under a million stars
From a million to three stars
Tonight we are sleeping in, under three stars, in Santo Domingo De La Calzada’s luxurious parador, converted from a former convent. It’s beautiful; soft beds, clean linen, and fresh towels to refresh tired cyclists.
A different hotel, a different menu
Last night our dinner was a tin of corned beef divided into five portions. Tonight we’ve already eaten all the goodnight chocolates left on our pillows and have spent the last half an hour translating the lengthy dinner menu into English so we don’t waste any time when the restaurant opens.
Isn’t life more interesting for a little contrast?
