The miracle of the wine
The Monastery and Bodegas de Irache are well known amongst pilgrims. For here a small miracle is said to be guaranteed. Free wine. Although when we turned up there was a slight problem that made us think the promise would not be delivered upon.

The promise of the Fuente de Irache
At the Fuente de Vino
Of the two taps at the fountain, one dispenses agua (water), the other vino (need I explain?). But only the water tap appeared to be working. This was no miracle. And none of us were capable of turning water into wine.

Oh dear only the water tap appears to be working
What no wine?
But the kids were determined. And I have to admit Kirstie and I were keen too. So Kirstie and the boys set about jiggling and fiddling with the wine tap to try and get some wine.

Some determined jiggling from the kids was in order
It is a miracle
And suddenly, like a miracle, the wine began to flow. Blood red. Cheers!

And then the wine flowed…
A take away too
Kirstie wanted to fill our water bottles but it didn’t seem appropriate. Still they were selling little bottles at the vending machine, so we appropriated them for celebrations later.
