As we ride on, heading towards the Northern coast the ride becomes wilder and wilder. This is Scotland at its best. And worst. This is Sutherland.

The long and empty road

The road is long. And narrow. And mostly empty. Apart from us. It’s a well signposted trail though. For cyclists. Not too many turnings at which to get lost.

A wild beauty to behold

But it’s wild, empty nature is a joy to behold.  On and on we ride. There’s little else to do. From Lairg, through the wilds of Sutherland until we reach Tongue. Another 64.3km.
