Cumbria Adventure Capital for Families Season

Cumbria is the UK’s Capital of Adventure. Or so it claims. But it’s not just a claim, it’s a long term project which aims to attract outdoor, adventure-minded people to the county, give them world class opportunities to adventure when they get here, and encourage them to spend their dollars, pounds and euros while they’re out and about.

But what does being an ‘Adventure Capital’ actually mean? And what can this iconic landscape that has inspired everything from poets to climbers, offer a wealth of diverse age groups with all their different needs and demands?

Over the next year we’re on a mission to find out. And as a family oriented site, we’ll be concentrating on what Cumbria Adventure Capital UK can offer families. Yes that’s everything from Granny to the newborns. No pressure then, Cumbria as we launch our Family Adventure Capital UK season!

The Cumbrian Fells? Family Adventure Capital UK?

We’ll be chatting to adventure providers about what they do for a living, but also what they like to do for fun and bringing you their personal tips on the very best adventures for families visiting Cumbria.

We’ll be talking to the people who came up with the initiative and those who are driving it through. We’ll be finding out what they think an Adventure Capital is, what it takes to be one, why it matters and trying to unearth who the competition is.

Derwent Water Freezes – A once in a lifetime walk?

We’ll be exploring how you can book your adventures, how easy it is to access them, how much value for money they offer and ultimately if they’re any fun.

And of course we fully intend to have a go ourselves throughout the year, at activities we haven’t tried before and a few of those we have, reporting back on what it’s like to adventure in different ways.

To kick off the season, we’ll be cycling across the county on the famous C2C (coast to coast) route during February, blogging about some of the people, places and passions we find along the way. We’ll start with our toes in the Irish Sea and end with them in the North Sea which seems an adventurous enough proposition in the middle of winter even without the cycling in between.

On the fells, on the water, indoors, outdoors, the options are endless

Whether you’re first time family adventurers, family adventure addicts or more inclined to adventure from your armchair, we’ll be inviting you to get involved as the season develops.

Cumbria may have England’s five tallest mountains and its deepest and largest lakes, it might even be the Adventure Capital of the UK; but we want to know is it the Family Adventure Capital?
